How to Reheat Creamy Pasta Sauce Without Splitting
A gentle reheating method for creamy pasta sauce that helps prevent separation, graininess and dry leftover pasta.
Cream sauces are more likely to separate when they are reheated too quickly.
Use low heat
Put the pasta and sauce in a skillet or saucepan over low heat.
Add a small splash of liquid
Add a little water, milk or other suitable liquid. Start with less than you think you need.
Stir and toss gently
As the pasta warms, toss it so the liquid and sauce come back together.
Avoid a hard boil
High heat can make dairy sauces separate and can turn cheese sauces grainy.
Reheat only until hot
Once the pasta is heated through and the sauce looks smooth again, serve it immediately.
